I know them as vortex generators. On aircraft, they serve a very real purpose in slow speed flight(approach and landing), by keeping the air flowing over critical flight control surfaces. On trucks... I guess.Last edited: Jan 2, 2017

Airtabs are what was in that thread, they work for the most part but in the tread, the OP was asking if they help in stability of high winds, which nothing does.fargonaz Thanks this.

When mega carriers don't use some of these great aero inventions, I ask why. If everything were as great as they are advertised to be, the mega carriers would use them.

When I see these great new aero inventions, I ask myself 'if they work so well why don't the mega carriers use them?'.

NFI uses them on all their equipment around here, they're a pretty big carrier and also run the eco-flaps and super singles. I've used them and I can't say anything about their fuel saving, but they do reduce spray/mist in the rain which I like a lot, especially in the dark, in the rain.
fargonaz Thanks this. -
I found some test results on their site

There was this post the other day mentioning major fleets and OEM using the v-spoilers in Europe and Australia, but I cannot find it anymore..
-
I also heard about the eco flaps

the double-yellow thread has some reasonable analysis of these aids, and suggestions. i'd browse that first before you plunk down some cash. I can recommend the eco-flaps too for anti-spray, but no hard data on economy. Both seem worth it to me for the visibility as they're cheap.
