Meh. You're going back a ways. Or you're talking near DC.
I rent a large two bedroom for 750 plus electric. And when I say large I mean I could fit my old dining room, living room and bedroom in my master now. And no, I'm not in the downtown homeless filled area. It's a quiet area with a lot of families. Indoor pool open year round, gym (but it's an apartment complex gym so...)Park within 4 minutes walking, all amenities close and I hear nothing around me. It's not exactly the Park hotel, but it's not slum city either. I'm an hour out of Baltimore or DC, 2 from Annapolis so that makes a difference.
But even that at 36K/year just doesn't cut it. Want to drive a decent newer car? Forget it. Want to put max % in 401? Forget it. Want to contribute to your kids college fund? Forget it.

Overtime makes all the difference with the hourly situation and they claim they have plenty

Thats pretty good sounds about like the rent here. I have a one bedroom and pay about 585 in a nice complex.x1Heavy Thanks this.

My other question is, will dry van companies look the regional dry bulk job as experience since it's not backing intensive like dry van?

OT can change things. But remember you pay more taxes on it. There is a threshold where you are no longer gaining.
Mileage on the other offer can make all the difference, one way or another.

Very true on the tax thing...

And Mr @Danch , you did say something about having to transport the crew. That kind of rig would need an A because of the weight, but the bulk gig being a true 18 would be better, far better on your resume.
Staffing company. That's a temp gig?
And then the free labor of the bulk gig...
I would do the bulk gig because it would help lead to something better. But I would have to do better than $1200/week...otherwise, I'd find something where I wouldn't have to spend all my time unloading for free. Might as well haul containers out of the Virginia Beach area.Danch Thanks this. -
You will make more at 18$ and some OT. Road expenses and short weeks trying to get home will eat up mondy fast. I have done both and currently a $ per hour. Unless you just love OTR and adventure of roaming the country.
Toomanybikes and Danch Thank this. -
How can you know that without knowing what kind of miles he might be doing? Kreskin? That you?
EdDanch Thanks this.
