smith trans is the lowest form of life on the planet, after changing your job to forced dispatch to nyc without the city pay, they tell u that u have tendered your resignation by refusing a load, after leaving them & applying to other companies did i discover that they (smith) had put 3 preventable accidents on my dac report,i knew i had 1, upon requesting the information on the other 2 i wa stold by them that they didn't have any,no accident reports, disclplinary reports, log entries or any other evidence that these other incidents even happened except for them saying they did.Now i have to get a copy of my dac & file a dispute, which keeps all other compnies from hiring u (w/ 3 prev acc) i even asked how i was kept in their employ with so many accidents & they didn't have an answer for that either, all three were reported by smith, all three in ny,and no paperwork at all for two of them, this company only loves you as long as you don't question them or how many times they suggest you run when they know your out of hours, pathetic for a company preaches such christian retoric... my only advice is to stay as far away from them as possible...![]()

I would take them to court and sue for lost wages. -since they can't prove 2/3 accidents.

Ive heard your same story many times from other people who worked for Smith, I worked for tem in 2007 and they sucked then but I got out before they tried damaging me. Beware all stay clear of Smith they are loosers! Glad to see guys helpen others to stay clear we all need to inform one another and make thes crappy companies change or close them down.

Would this be the Smith Transport with the black trucks?
-
Yes, stay away from this company. I cant believe that there are few complaints about this company. it is a revolving door, the dispatchers make more money than the drivers
-
Are'nt companies something else, you refuse a load so theyll either fire you or make your life so miserable that youll be forced to quit, then they put lies on your DAC.So many companies are like that and nothing will ever get done about it because as the law sees it,the drivers are the ones at fault no matter what.So as long as this continues, the truck companies can and will do everything possible to ruin a drivers career.

I worked for Smith Transport for about two years and I can honestly say I never wittnessed any of these things. Smith Transport doesnt force anyone to go to NYC! I was one of those drivers that didnt want to go to NYC. I was asked several times to pick up a load that was headed to NYC and each time I spoke with my DM and each time the DM would only ask me to PU the load and relay it to another driver. I was never asked to run over my hours. If I was asked to PU a load but didnt have the hours to run it through, I would let my DM know of the situation. In most cases I would PU the load and take it as far as I could and then have another driver finish it. This is why Many drivers dont succeed! Lets say you only have 3 hours to run. Dispatch sends you a load because you are the only truck in the area. they need that load picked up! Instead of argueing and complaining to your DM about your hours, talk to them and explaine. In 99.99% they will only ask that you pick that load up. Plus you are now taking full advantage of your hours and being a team player!
In my opinion Smith is an excellent company and I only left to make 12cpm more doing Bulk tank work. My checks were always right, I was always home for the weekend, If i needed family or emergency time at home I was given it. I did have 3 different DMs during my time there and I know some are better then others. But I know for fact if you and your DM do not click together they will assign another DM to you if you talk to them!
They have some of the best equipment on the road. If you get into the shop and held for more then 12 hours they will give you a room. In just 3 months they let you up grade your equipment should you not be happy with your current truck. I dont know what more a driver could expect from a company!
It is my opinion that if you cant make it at Smith you cant make it any where. They Have Pros and Cons just like every company! but the Pros far out weigh the Cons!
