Indiana DOT delays reopening of Interstate 80/94

Officials with the Indiana Department of Transportation had hoped to reopen a four-mile stretch of Interstate 80/94 Thursday afternoon, Sept. 18, after it was shut down for days by flooding.
But in a press release issued in mid-afternoon, DOT officials said crews were still pumping water off the highway and that it wont reopen until theyre done. The expressway will remain closed until an adequate number of lanes are clear for traffic and can be safely maintained.

According to the state DOTs Web site, I-80/94 is closed between the Illinois state line and Lake Station for eastbound traffic. Westbound traffic can access I-94 from the Michigan state line up to the Indiana Toll Road and northbound State Route 51.

Yeah... it gets alittle busy up there. I figured they'd have a better way of repairing it since it is so heavily traveled.

What happen to deep tunnel for drainage, did anybody think of a drainage system for that highway.
