If someone gets their CDL on their own (no school), will any of the bigger companies hire them? Or, do they all require a 160 hour course certificate?
Companies that don't require 160 hour course

CasanovaCruiser and plankton Thank this. -
Some companies will fast track you through their training program because you don't have to spend a week studying for the permits, etc.
You're already driving aren't you?DustMyBroom and plankton Thank this. -

Some companies such as KKW Trucking in California will put the guy right on the road with a trainer. There's several food service companies that will put him on the road as a driver helper just long enough to get the company policies and protocols learned, then he's on his own. Some of this isn't on the websites, but it's true. He should apply as a driver helper, if he wants foodservice.
Sygma Network
Reinhart Foodservice
Performance Food Group
McLane Foodservice
Labatt Foodservice
Gordon Foodservice
XPO Logistics - not foodservice
Not all terminals will have openings for this or maybe they're filled already. -
Why dont you want the extra training?

Maverick told my nephew that they had no CDL school requirements and would hire him as long as he had a CDL Not sure if that recruiter was correct or not but you can call them and check yourself.

A lot of companies with schools have fast track programs that will put someone who already has a cdl through the school in 3-10 days. Basically, they want to see if you know how to drive and back. Once that is completed, then they send you out with a trainer.

I remember seeing that on Maverick's website a few months ago.
Also try Nick Strimbu Inc.
