Hi, I am interested in going to a trucking company school with job placement... I have an open container ticket which will be 3 years in March. I passed the breath test. I was not drinking & driving but I was driving my friend car & it was an old liquor bottle in the backseat. Please assist me if possible with a trucking school that accepts 3 year old tickets as such.. BTW: I'm alcohol and drug Free...
Open Container Ticket??

If it was sealed, lid on how was that an Open Container?
Open Container Laws. Most states have laws prohibiting the presence of open cans, bottles, or other unsealed containers of alcoholic beverages (even if empty) on sidewalks, streets, and inside vehicles. So by default, a passenger drinking an alcoholic beverage also is in possession of an open container. -
He didn't say it was sealed.
Op, the best you can do is call around. A lot of places consider that pretty much the same as DUI but some companies will give you a break.KrystalW30 Thanks this. -
It shouldn't affect you getting into almost any school as it is not a moving violation and it isn't recent.
Trucking companies themselves won't be so gentle about it. -
If it was in the back seat and not sealed must have been an empty..KrystalW30 Thanks this.

Unsealed is not the same as open.Bean Jr. Thanks this.

No, it could easily be a half empty bottle of liquor left in the back. Lid is on but the seal is broken so it's legally an open container.KrystalW30, Bean Jr. and TROOPER to TRUCKER Thank this.

Do you mean a private cdl school that has job placement or a trucking company school where you work for the company after completing their course?
Put your location on your profile.
Carolina Logistics is a trucking company with their own school and cuts some slack on tickets.KrystalW30 Thanks this. -
Sounds like the OP caught a break. Open container is way better than liquor law violation.
Broke Down 69 and UsualSuspect Thank this. -
Call Cassie at Britton Transport. 701-757-5560. No guarantees, but she will at least listen, and the company does make all determinations on iffy stuff like that on a case by case basis. We don't have a school. But a finishing program, for new drivers who went to a public driving school.Last edited: Jan 5, 2017
