Sorry 2Girls I misread the original post. In all my years as a State Trooper I have only seen State DOT officers and plenty of them as we were both under the Dept. of Public Safety Umbrella.

It all depends on where you are, in my home state of Pennsylvania we have State Troopers, PA Public Utility Commission officers, and local municipal police officers that are all certified motor carrier enforcement officers, complete with CVSA training. In New York it is common for local municipal police officers and county sheriff deputies to also be CVSA certified as MCE officers and they conduct random inspections in places such as supermarket parking lots or any where else they can safely flag a CMV into.

Did they ask you to take a drug or Alcohol Test?
-
Here whether asked or not a refusal once the test started is a refusal. Also in 25 years I never had on person who had been drinking ask for a blood alcohol test.
NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
What in blazes are you doing with drugs, alcohol, and paraphernalia inside of your truck anyways?
Just this alone could cost you your CDL! Even if you did get your CDL reinstated, what reputable trucking company is going to hire you to drive for them?
You may want or need to go into another line of work to earn any kind of a living, especially if you have family responsibilities.
If or when you do apply to other companies, outside of trucking, be sure to be 100% honest as to why you are no longer employed as a truck driver. Many companies can and WILL check backgrounds.
Good luck to you!
God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!Last edited: Aug 3, 2015

He can't reply, he's too busy working the fryer at McDonalds.
When I was involved in a fatal accident, the local police met me at the hospital and took a drug test and breathalyzer test. So it doesn't need to be DOT in some circumstances. -
Are TRUCKERS screwed when local cops and DOT Cops write Bogus Traffic Tickets, are the Lawyers in the area in on it for a cut of the action?
Grand Prairie Texas Cops have a real trap set up at Hwy# 161 & Carrier Pkwy. they have a sign NO LEFT TURN FOR TRUCKS, ALL TRUCKS MUST CONTINUE STRAIGHT, OK, Next Stop Sign trucks can turn left to Carrier Pkwy, BUT the Stop Sign is a few feet away from the intersection, So when you pass the Stop Sign to pull up to the intersection to see if it's clear to turn left, Barney is sitting there under the bridge to zip behind you to write you a ticket for running the stop sign; $195.00 FINE.
So far I haven't found an attorney to hire??? HUMMM???
I found 1 he wants $1500.00 + PLUS you must agree to all the NON-REFUNDABLE FEES in the fine print.
Another LAW FIRM said I'm a CDL/HOLDER, nothing we can do, I'm looking at a FINE & a CONVICTION.
I know if you just plead NO-CONTEST & GUILTY it won't go on your MVR or cost you points; but the principal and a local Schmuck dumb cop with no shame high 5'ing each other on how many truckers they ROB each day, I'm willing to lose money fighting them in court.
So watch out if delivering to DSV/LOGISTICS' 3450 ROY ORR BLVD in GRAND PRAIRIE TEXAS, the local cops want a cut.
They believe they are ENTITLED to it too.
