I didn't say they averaged 3 bucks a mile or grossed 9k every week. I said there are plenty averaging the same to the truck as your gross numbers. 1.87 ttt is not 3 dollars gross. The fact you want to insist it is shows just how little you understand the lease contracts at companies like landstar. For instance, you keep saying they only pay 65%. That's simply not true. The only trucks getting 65% are the guys that cant get their #### together and buy a trailer.

As i said before, rough math in my head 1.87 ttt is about 2.30/mile freight. It's not as simple as 73% of 2.30. its 73% of the linehaul freight bill plus 100 percent of the fsc and all other accessorials.

Is everyone of their trucks averaging that? Of course not. But I've never concerned myself with what the bottom half are doing. We all know that 98% of the guys with a truck would be better off going back to their company driver jobs.

But for a guy that's easy to deal with, a problem solver instead of a problem creater, and always does what he agrees to do. 1.87 to the truck, is easy to do at a company like landstar. Get to know the agents. Separate the wheat from the chaffe. And prove you are the guy that will always get the job done, no excuses. And better loads will be made available to you.

    Edit to add
And 2500 after fuel on 1250 miles ain't a bad week in my opinion. It's a #### fine income for part time work.

    I agree thats good.
I worked with big companies before. I know how they work or dont work. Im not here to create trouble. If you are happy, thats what matters. My friends with ls werent happy, i showed them how to operate on your own. Now they have almost doubled their take home and they are happy too.
I just cant wrap my head around giving a big chunk of my hard earned money to a company. Thats all. We all are in this business together, what hurts you, hurts me as well. Best wishes for you all!

You give it up to a broker if you use them so what is the difference? I lease to a company and pull 100% brokered freight. Lots of guys think I am stupid for that but I don't don't give a #### what they think. I know what I'm doing. I like getting paid within 48 hours and don't have to bother with many other distractions that lets me focus on my main objective front and center always - to get the best rate possible.

Yep. I don't care if someone else makes a couple bucks as long as it means i make more than i would have without them. Case in point, I'm headed to the truck to go get a regular load going just over a hundred miles that will pay me well over a thousand dollars and I'll be home before the family sits down to eat dinner. My carrier will make about 200 bucks on this load after paying me. Some guys view it as me giving up 200 bucks, but the reality is this particular load is only ever moved by my carrier, so if i didn't have mercer on the side of my truck id never even see this load.

That's just the thing. There are many examples of drivers leased on to carriers that have high revenue freight. My carrier is a case in point. As an owner operator you make your decisions based on what gives you the most bang for the buck. NOTHING else matters.
