You said it right. He said because of the truck the insurance is high. He also mentions that the reefer was a bad deal, but he had no choice because his credit isn't the greatest. I am trying to keep me under $3500 per month?

That's some profound stuff. I see this all the time. There is always someone to take the cheap freight. That is why the brokers are ####y ### f###! What do you think the ideal payment should be? And who would be a real owner operator?

5200 a month for the equipment only + working off loadboards = thin wallet.

I was quoted $ 9800 for my trusty white 670. $13K was the high quote.

What kind of driving record this guy have?

Reefer even used is probably pretty new so as to go into Commufornia. I could see that.

If he has a good direct customer he probably gets $4 or better going out, $2 coming back.

Why is the truck a better deal and not the refer for him? Is the truck a LP, he needed credit to buy it? Agreed with everyone else on the trailer, that's were he's off.

Truck payment 2800, truck insurance 540, reefer payment 1400, cargo insurance 1200. 5940. If he has brand new equipment, he is paying less then the market rate. Figure a third for fuel. He should be grossing 4000 a week. On a 4 week month.....16000/3 x 2 (fuel) 10667 - 5940 = 4727 profit for the month or 4727 = 1187.75 before taxes.

Their is a man online on this sight who is a Professor of Economics. He points out that we all make about the same if we rely on other folks for our freight.
