I guess it makes sense long as it is a true one check system.. having to many programs gets complicated and leaves room for miss interpretation and mistakes.. Now the Canadians should not get away with paying $100 for the new cards.. Noway should they get away with it.. they need to pay up for what they have been lucky to get in the first place. that being able to haul freight in America.
-
I agree, I say smack it too the freight theives and tax their guts out ! !
-
does this mean we won't have to pay money to get back into our own country anymore?
-
Yes you will still need to pay to get back in.. That's the border crossing fee.. This is just a unified ID check. -
What are you whining about now?
-
Nice try to provoke me into a battle with you.. I will just laugh it off because its not me who is the one whining.. Perhaps your reading comprehension skills from where you live are very low and you don't see that it is the Canadians who are whining about having to pay another $100 for a unified ID.. You Canadians are the ones who are not us or "I".. Only thing I am saying is we should not let your whining succeed and make you all pay for the new ID. America has given you a great opportunity to make money in this country and another $100 is nothing to continue that opportunity. I am sorry you feel the way you do but the fact remains and is totally indisputable from any side.. America has given Canadian trucking a big boost by allowing them to drive in America, More so then America would ever get by being allowed to drive in Canada.. I am pro Canada and support you guys up there %100 more so then I support any other country in the world but those are the facts....

Ah, in a word ... no.
You try and make it sound like all we have to pay is some nominal fee and we are suddenly given the keys to the kingdom. We have to pay all the same fees as you to run in the U.S. We only haul freight that is originating or terminating in Canada ... just the same as all the Americans that are running up here. And make no mistake, just because you either won't, or can't, cross the border, plenty of your brethren are ... and they're finding it plenty lucrative to do so.
I'm not sure how you think you know what I feel because I've never told you. Then again, like your other so-called "facts", that one is false too.
BTW, Canada has given you a great oppotunity too. The only reason you're not paying $10/gal for fuel like they are in Europe is because you're running on "our" oil.Last edited: Sep 20, 2008

LOL okay we buy your oil... So how does this play into it? It would cost you more to ship it to foreign countries then have it shipped here, therefore you make more money by selling it to America. That has nothing to do with trucks being allowed in America and the opportunity it gives you all.. Nice try but very lame and has no relevance to the discussion..
A country with the total population being just over 33 million allowed to take their products into America and then get a load heading back (and we know that always does not happen 100% of the time) is to gain more then America with a population over 301 million...
Since NAFTA Canada's income per household has increased and the pay for a Canadian is now equal to an American.. Something that was not so before NAFTA so yes the facts are there.. -
Scrap TWIC? GAO report slams port credential program
Truck drivers and others who work at U.S. ports have grumbled for years about the expenses and hassles of obtaining a Transportation Worker Identification Credential. A federal investigative report released this week says Congress should consider scrapping the 10-year-old billion-dollar program altogether and starting over with a new credential.scottied67 Thanks this.
