There's a meiers towing here that KB uses often.They have drove hundreds of miles to retrieve KB equipment.Can you imagine the cost.Crusader66 Thanks this.

Don't need to cost much at all. You don't need a 3/4 of a million dollar rotator to do the job...just a road tractor with a wheel lift and a tool box with a couple fittings and chains. Doesn't even need stupid low gearing to get moving, either, since you aren't pulling loaded equipment. If a load was abandoned, an actual driver could meet you to grab the loaded trailer if there was one. Vs the cost of an airline ticket, not to mention having to lug everything I'd want with me (tools and such) to make sure once I got there, I'd be able to get it running and get it back...then whatever cleaning and sanitizing that might be necessary for me to drive it without puking or getting some random infection from who knows WHAT that driver did inside the cab prior to abandoning...may as well just drive myself, hook, and go. Not to mention the taxi/rental car cost to get from the airport out to wherever it was abandoned...costs are high either way.

That's how my boss towed his junk back to the yard.His trk died in the most horrible way Just before the Ohio state line.He had a wrecker tow it 16 miles to Hubbard,Ohio and there I sat for 2 days at the Hilton.He sent one of his drivers to come get it only he didn't make it.He had a bad accident on the Ohio toll road.So he sat in jail.Jason the boss ended up getting it.

I agree i to did recovery a long time ago for a company out of Arkansas.Greyhound bus rides get to town get a taxi go look for equipment,then you might drive that equipment for a week or two before they route you back in what ever the pised off driver left. Have to lug around your stuff just not worth it

I've talked to meier guys they say KB is their biggest customer.When I was at KB there was always a trk and trailer getting towed into the yard.

If I held a position of any authority in any major trucking company, acquisition of a towing company would be high on my list of priorities. Cross bill your own work, and you would also have the work of all the local competition when your own trucks aren't being moved. As well as the standard roadside rescues, you could "maybe" compete with Road Squad, if they don't have a nearby location?

Spoke to a driver once who told me a horror story about a truck recovery.
They found the truck trashed and driver took a dump on the floor inside the sleeper and Bunch of trash laying around.
