Dolche looks to me like more of a dispatch service or broker disguised as a carrier than an actual carrier. I'm curious to see how much direct freight they have, vs. the number of loads that they double and triple broker. -
they deduct the insurance from your paycheck...mostly 150 to 180 a week
but they're responsable of the cargo! those insurance policies are under there names not yours... thats how the leases works! most of them deduct what ever they charge, in this case is 12% plus insurance,trailer,fuel...etc..
some companies charge for transflow, logs, direct deposit,etc... i've thinking on getting my own authority but is not that easy like people think!! the good thing is that most of this companies send you the rate confirmation from the brooker!! or if they are the brokers they send it to you... just try to negotiate every load so you are getting pay good!!Desievans Thanks this. -
All owner operators pay insurance when they are leased to a carrier. Landstar pays 78% of the load revenue. ( may be wrong about the percentage, but is around that number). They don't charge you for trailer, insurance or plates, but if you compare it with getting 88-90% and pay $150-180 a week for insurance and the same for trailer rent, it comes the same.
The other way of payment with incorporated insurance is owner operators that are paid per mile. J.B.Hunt pays 1.20 + fuel surcharge and the owner operator does not pay for insurance. It is still the same.
It is driver's preference. I found out that Landstar promote that they pay high rate per mile, but for miles they take straight line from zip to zip and divide the rate which comes up high. Again different drivers different needs. -
Yeap...it is like that! I'm with landstar...I'm doing good...they pay 65% using they're trailer and 72% using ur own! 73% to flatbed
-
I worked for so many companies at 80 90%... paying high insurances and trailer rents... at the end is the same...
At least landstar is a huge company with good support and discounts! -
You are right. They show these numbers, but at the end of the day, it is all the same.
It comes to where each driver feel comfortable. Landstar has a great reputation among drivers, but some of their agents are making them look bad, by booking freight with outside brokers where they promise them that they will put it on a Landstar BCO, but instead posting it on DAT and double brokering it to another company. -
