97 kenworth w900 with a cat 3406e
Just replaced head and cam, replaced all batteries, all battery cables and relays to the starter. Truck started just fine. Replaced the tach and an air pressure sensor and now it won't crank. Push the push button and there's nothing. I have power at the ignition and power transfer when I push the button. Nothing at the starter. What gives? I can jump the relay in the battery box and it will crank but won't fire. I think the ecm has power because I had a snap on prolink plugged in and it was reading the ecm fine. No DTCs

Hey RC, that's the trouble with older trucks, the electrical goes haywire. In all my years, most of the time, it was a bad ground. I'd check all grounds, maybe even run another ground wire to the cab and the one to the motor (if any). Because you certainly have power. Good luck.

there must be a neutral safety lockout somewhere on this truck? if so where?
-
i made a jumper from the push button to the relay in the battery box. does anyone know if that wire goes directly to and from the push button and the relay or does it make a stop in the fuse panel? From what i can tell there is no starter fuse or relay in the fuse panel

It started fine after the head, cam, batteries, cables and relays? But not after the tach and air pressure sensor?
-
correct, i did try putting the old tach back in but it didnt change anything
-
Is it possible that you knocked a wire loose or pinched a harness in the dash while installing the tach and air pressure sensor?
-
i guess anything is possible, i will go take a closer look
-
theres nothing that looks out of place, disconnected, or damaged in the dash

i have 18.2 ohms at the output of the push button to the relay when pushed in. i also get a ring on my multi meter, but i dont have any volts
