Oil drip on cobblestone

I'm wondering what others will think of this situation. We delivered to a mall recently in Denver, Colorado. It turns out we were on the wrong side of the mall due to a broker who didn't give us contact information nor the fact that the store we were delivering to was being moved to the other side of the mall and unloading would take place other than where the current store is located.

Mall security had told us when we first got there that the store's docks were either dock 7 or 8, which happened to be where the cobblestone roadway was at. After an hour of finally being told that we were to unload on the other side of the mall where the store was being relocated at, we headed on over to the correct docks.

About an hour or so later, one of the mall security guards asks us if we were parked over on the other side of the mall earlier. It turns out they were incredibly mad that we left a small spot of oil drip on the cobblestone roadway. He went on and on about how the cobblestone cost them a million dollars and proceeded to ask us for company name, phone number, etc. About an hour later, the security supervisor came over and told us that we didn't have any business letting oil drip on their property and that we needed to contain it and pretty much gave us a very hard time and making it sound like it was major spill or something.

Has anyone else run into this kind of situation before? Our small spot of oil drip was probably about two inches in diameter and probably an ounce or two of oil. My first thought is if they are that concerned about anything messing up the condition of the cobblestone that they should make it a sidewalk only. Is this a legitimate insurance claim? Wouldn't it be easier to just get some degreaser and blast it with a pressure washer and be done with it?

This was at Park Meadows Mall in Littleton, Colorado. I guarantee you we will never be back there in our lifetime. Most of their security guards were very heavy handed as well and just really seemed like they resented trucks even being there taking up any space whatsoever.

 

Yes, that is the offending mall. The cobblestone in question was over by the Macy's store close to Borders. I'm also remembering now that the security supervisor asked us how much longer we were going to be there because he seemed concerned about a few drops of oil over where the docks were where we finally ended up unloading at. And that was a blacktop surface! Good grief!
