Keen the thing is your still in your 1 year paying them back period for the training. After that year they are going to crank up the pressure. When I hired on in 98 I was in a class of all EXP Drivers. We all had 2+ years of OTR time in the books all had driven 48 states. In less than 6 months ALL OF US HAD QUIT for the same reasons NO MILES NO RESPECT constant BULLCRAP. Being treated like a 2 year old by management.

Yeah, but I've been with them a year and a half, paid my schooling off early, and still report it the way he does. I get my home time on time or a day early, I've been averaging 2700 miles a week here in the "slow months" and average 2800 in the good ones. I'm not micromanaged, either. The camera in my truck has only gone off if there was a reason, like if someone cuts me off and I have to brake hard to avoid them, and I've never had a message about it. I'm sure I'll head for greener pastures one day, but Millis has been good to me.

In this day and age of trying to find and keep qualified drivers it is hard to believe that Millis would treat a driver after 1 year and paying off their loans as you say. Millis may not be perfect but I know they make every effort to keep all safe hard working drivers. As for respect. Respect is earned at Millis. Not just handed out. You earn it you get it!

I had over 2 years of Western mountain experience when I signed on to Millis. I was at the BRF yard waiting on a load when one was called for Seattle. I went I have been there 6 times in the last 2 years alone. Dan Millis himself looked at me and said you do not know how to drive in the mountains. He gave the load to a rookie driver fresh out of school. The rookie Laid the Freaking Load over on 4th of July 3 days later. I went maybe Next time you'll listen to an experienced driver and turned in my keys.

Really? Hired on in1998 and they ran to Seattle back then? So they gave the load to a newbie so you quit? Sounds like you have an axe to grind.

What I was hired to do long haul OTR for them. I don't call 600 mile runs with 4 days to get there exactly what I signed on for back then. It was routine to give the experienced hired even then unless we went regional loads we could have gone in reverse down the road with and still have made it with the delivery schedule on them. A load of paper towels that had 1 week to get from Appleton Wisconsin to Harrisburg Pennsylvania or here was the kicker that made me leave 10 days Milwaukee to Jacksonville Florida. I lived enroute and was denied a request to go home after being out 5 weeks already and they had missed 3 other home time requests. Why because I refused to run their beloved regional runs that were out of my local terminal. So I requested a meeting with the Millis brothers my dispatcher and then after that meeting while they knew I was waiting for a load they bypassed me for a trainee fresh out of training that was just getting into his truck. I was sent to St Louis to be delivered 3 days later. Then I heard he laid it over via the shop I demanded a trip to the yard to clean out my truck and turned in my keys.

I went to work for Henderson out of Salem Illinois and my first week out of the box there I cranked out 4200 paid miles. My lowest week there in 15 months was 3100 miles those were when I came home. I was paid more at Henderson better equipment and oh yeah a little thing called they did respect your experience instead of treating you like a 2 year old child. Those that ran their cans off there were rewarded with extra money and perks the best one was when the owner of the company would treat you to dinner at a local steakhouse and you got to order anything you wanted.

When you think a steakhouse is a highlight in your life it might be time to reevaluate. Then again you could be from west virgina so that could explain it all.
