Do an oil analysis every oil change and you can sleep at night.
I used to have a KW with a GM 8V92TA, every oil change the copper count was around 25-30 ppm. Then one oil change it went to 100. Next change was 200 ppm. Dropped the pan and #1 main was worn right through.
Moral of the story: sample every oil change and act on the results.

Blackstone charges $28 for the analysis and gives you a good writeup on what they see and how it compares to averages. You need a baseline but you will get somewhat useful data on the first data point. Go to their website and order a analysis kit. It is free because you pay for it in the $28 fee when the oil is tested. Cheap insurance...
