thinking about going to jct any advice

My experience with JCT wasn't good.
I wanted a 379 pete for my lease truck. What I got was a Classic XL that had 120k miles on it and they wanted me to still Pay $117k for it. I hated that truck and asked for the entire 6 weeks that I was there to switch to a pete.
My payments where nearly $600 a week. Add on top of that that over chromed piece of junk only got 4.5 mpg and you've got a recipe for netting about $300 dollars a week. My best net was $800 on a 4400 mile week! 2 of my 6 weeks where break even(can you afford to not get paid?)
During orientation they make it clear that you will haul loads that are over gross, but don't worry they'll route you around the scales.
They also make it clear that they don't give a #### about your log, and that they will terminate your lease if you are late, regardless if you have enough time to get there safely or not.
To be fair, it is a walk away lease and they didn't try to ding my credit or bleed me for money when I told then that it wasn't for me.
I am considering giving being an O/O another try. I've been doing a lot of research and reading up and have come to a few conclusions.
Buy your truck from someone other then the company you plan on leasing to. Right now Arrow has some $0 down deals with weekly payments around $300 for instance. Also, shop around for your different insurance coverages the first half of the equation to being successful is to keep your fixed cost per week as low as possible. Besides getting a better deal, if you decide to switch companies you won't have to start a new lease all over again.
Second part of success is you'll want to pick a truck that will maximize your fuel mileage. I'm looking at 670 Volvo's with 400hp Cummins. Not very sexy but these trucks are more then capable of getting 6.5 to 7.5 mpg. If you don't like the Volvo, then Pete 386/387's, KW T600's, and FL Century's are some other good mpg trucks. The other part of this is to make sure to lease with a company that pays a standard fuel surcharge and doesn't just guarantee you a set price for fuel. Reason being is that if you get a good mpg truck the effective price per gallon goes down under the fuel surcharge program but not the set price program(iow, if you are running 7mpg and in a set price program, the company is basically geting to keep that extra mile of fuel surcharge they are getting.)
Other things to consider is what a company pays per mile(or are they %). Do they pay deadhead? Ave. miles per week per truck. HHMG or practical miles? -

Have to agree with forgotten about the downsides, My only experience with a JCT truck was at the Sam's clubDC in Buckeye AZ. The idiot and I am being generous with that term blind sised backed into the front of my truck. You got out and tried telling me that I moved my truck so he would hit it. I wasn't even in it and the other witnesses made JCT call and offer to fix my truck before I even got the mechanic to jury rig it enough to get it home.
