I figured I'd throw this against the wall in case there were any users in here.....I bought me a pair....Intended to head down the ham road as a casual plus they are multi purpose like GMRS, FMRS, DOT, VHF , UHF, FM and multiplex.

But they are probably THE most uncooperative radios on the planet. Programming trouble, software problems, ( bugs, Windows 10, patches ) etc. And it takes an act of congress to program them by hand like step, step step....

That's my experience and after a week I'm ready to send them back and get an Icon or Yaesu .

Anyone with experience care to share? maybe I'm being hasty?

Hi Chalupa. I'm a ham, still using a 2m handheld "brick" from radio shack that's on it's last legs.
Haven't used a Baofeng but from other hams they like 'em okay or hate 'em. The people who love 'em do so because they consider it a nearly disposable radio to chuck in the glovebox for a backup. The ones who hate 'em are the ones who were attracted by the Bao's price, and are upset that they didn't get Icom quality for their $40. (Even cheaper online)
Some guys have had success dealing with Baofeng customer service. Maybe try some ham forum like QRZ.com to see if anyone has any suggestions.
It has a rep as a "You get what you pay for" radio. YMMV and good luck.
