Could you pro's out here list some great companies to work for in Houston, TX? I am looking for OTR and don't care about coming home as long as I am making money. I am more of an out on the road for 60 - 90 days and then back home for a week kinda person.

I just enrolled in my CDL class and wanted to keep looking for opportunities while in the process of obtaining my CDL. This way, I am ready to hit the road on day 1 with the right company.

I also heard there's good money in Tanker/Oil trucking. Any insight into that shall be much appreciated.

Also, I am looking to gain 6 months of experience before I buy my truck and run as O/O. Some insight into being an O/O vs company driver would be much appreciated. (Freedom to be your own boss is great but making more money is priceless!)

    Chinatown Thanks this.

Since you plan to be an 0/0 in the future, become a member of www.OOIDA.com which is a business website for the owner-operator. Study this and learn as much as you can.
You can run coast to coast with Trimac Transportation. Some terminals hire new cdl grads. Tell then you want coast to coast. You will need tanker/hazmat endorsement and TWIC ID Card. There's probably a TWIC office in Houston to apply for the id card. Google will show where it is.
Here's some companies with nice trucks set up for staying on the road:
    Schuster - refrigerated
    Britton Transport - flatbed
    Freymiller - refrigerated
    System Transport - flatbed
    Navajo Express - refrigerated
Danny Herman Trucking - dry van - must graduate in the 85 percentile or higher in your class to qualify. This company runs hard coast to coast and no northeast or New York City.
All the above hire new cdl grads. If website has "experience required" then the website hasn't been updated.
