I've wondered in the past that those limiters are effective: same as if they passed one here in. The states.
Pay a keyboard warrior $100; now your ecm is limited to 100kmh... On those 17.5 tires against 5.64 rears. Problem solved?

Second step is there is a cruise reward setting in ECMs. So your pedal and cruise can be set to 65 mph, but cruise rewards gets you 75 mph.
Third step is a bully dog plugged into the ECM OBD port and do what you want. Apparently $1000 CDN. The only thing I would check is if it leaves a footprint. Throw it in the sleeper if you get pulled inDarkhorseEnterprises and johndeere4020 Thank this. -
If you don't give them a reason to stop you they won't bother wasting the time.DDlighttruck Thanks this. -
I got the fullest inspection I've ever had in Ontario last year. The guy was a retiring saftey auditor and accident reconstruction specialist. He was a real friendly guy but the last person you want to try and bull****.
I was sweating bullets the whole time, but a governor was the one thing he never asked about.KenworthGuyNH, johndeere4020, Razororange and 2 others Thank this. -
To be honest though, I don't want to run 100 mph everywhere. But if I could get to 75 to get a run at a hill......or hit 70 to pass the guy governed at 62...life would be better.
johndeere4020, Razororange and Oxbow Thank this. -
About 4.5 years ago when I was working for Schneider I drove from El Paso to San Antonio across 10. It was scary being stuck at 60mph with big trucks passing me doing 80+ and cars close to 100.
Did a similar trip last summer empty. Kept the cruise locked at 85 the whole way.
Funny thing about my KW, the speedo stops at 80mph. At 81mph the needle drops and stops working until back below 80. Only way to know my speed is to switch the cluster to the digital speed.
Factory governor kicks in at 95. I try not go past 75 often seeing as my steers are only rated for 65.
If they ever pass a speed limiter law in the US I'll move on. After 2 years with a limiter and now having the trust of my employer for the last 3 I will never drive a limited truck again.johndeere4020, Dye Guardian, Oxbow and 3 others Thank this. -

That's how it's supposed to work anyway. The person who told me about it has not (yet) put it on his truck.Ruthless, johndeere4020, DarkhorseEnterprises and 1 other person Thank this.
