Hey y'all! I have been dancing around the idea of trucking for a few years and I am finally taking the plunge. I am deciding to go with company-sponsored training and after doing a lot of reading on this forum have already applied to Jim Palmer and Prime. I wanted to send off a few more applications and I'm looking for some advice, particularly for places that also hire out my area (Orlando, Fl) and would be a good fit for a newbie woman driver. Any advice would be appreciated :)

:D I'm not worried about any man on or off the road. I'm more concerned with finding myself a good place to get my foot in the door!

Also. I worked for Palmer out of Montana. Very nice family run operation. For a beginner you could do a lot worse.

Millis Transfer has a school in Georgia... They run 99% East of the Mississippi..Newer equipment KW T-680s DRY VAN Only a BUNCH of Drop and Hook, Haul A LOT of Beer or Menards, they allow passengers but NO PETS, Prime is a HUGE company they run all 48 running Refrigerated units, which some people have issues with sleeping because they run all the time and are noisy, they run mainly Freightliners I believe, Jim Palmer is part of Wil Trans out of Missouri, run mainly Peterbilt and Freightliners MOST new. Your schooling depends on where you want to run. if you want to stay EAST of Mississippi you will train in Springfield Missouri, if you want to run WEST mainly you will go to Missoula Montana, they run a lot of Refrigerated units, and YES haul a LOT of Freight FOR PRIME but they ARE NOT Prime...Let me know if I can help with anything else

I say apply to the orange bucket patrol unless you are wanting to do open deck then I'd say tmc but sciendier would be good for a newbie in your area I think

I'd put Jim Palmer as first choice; they're trucks are full size and set up for driver comfort.
Prime is ok, but for a refrigerator you have to take the passenger seat out and there's very little storage space inside for personal stuff.
Roehl Transport is a decent outfit also.
Still, you can't beat those Peterbilt trucks Jim Palmer has.

Good hiring area : "Jim Palmer currently hires drivers out of the contiguous 48 states. Wherever you call home, we can get you there."
