If your just starting out you can forget Progressive, they no longer insure brand new companies. I talked to them today and was told that if your DOT number doesn't show that you've been operating for at least 12 months they won't insure you. I then called a local agent here in AZ and they also told me the same thing, that "Progressive no longer insures new companies".

After a few years, and free of clams you will be able to get a much better rate. The best companies with the highest rating will give the best rates with proven carriers. Just good business practice. I see your post Ryan you always have the best intentions when it comes to business.
Ryan S2016 Thanks this. -
I actually called Progressive to ask them why they wont accept new companies and they said unless they have been in business with a good driving record and CSA score they feel it's a huge risk. Hell I didn't even know Progressive knew what CSA was. As for my intentions. I try to offer the best advice I can to people by sharing my experiences, I do not claim to be an expert nor do I know everything. Heck I have been in business for a year and still learn new things. I run into a lot of different transporters throughout the week some I see more than others and have learned that 99.99% of the time you can always get help from them whether it's backing into a small spot or holding up traffic or even jump starting a car. There is a ton of work out there and we are all in it together a sort of brotherhood there is no reason we should stab people in the back or try to sabatoge someone with bad info. My intentions will always be good and honest even if you don't like what I have to say. I post a lot on here because you never know when someone might just be looking for the answer. I've learned a lot and I hope to continue learning from all of you

Progressive a couple of years ago signed up a lot of new hotshot carriers. Then they had a lot of claims and pulled back on new carriers.

For people trying to get into the hotshot business with no prior experience, cdl etc, the huge price tag of insurance will sway many away from this business.
I will be going into my third year and have been told by my agent they will be able to shop and quote many more companies now that I've been in business for three years.flatbedcarrier, Lite bug and Ryan S2016 Thank this.
