I noticed it's hard to get any straight answers on here at times,I like to get at least $1.50 per mile, that would be on all miles .I think with that amount I can make a living until I get into some good paying loads. I gross in my busy season $3000.00 and sometimes close to $5000.00 ,I have not done that in a month now just holding on until March.

With a question like this,. thats because there is no real or correct answer.

Company drivers tend to have a difficult time trying to understand the difference between being a company driver and an O/O. Driving is the easy part. Its the business part that so many do not understand.

How much does an O/O make? There is no one size fits all answer. Between 8 and 80,.. blind cripple or crazy,.. negative numbers one month,.. positive or break even the next. Sometimes the money rolls in like champagne from the heavens,.. other times its one expense after another.

The success or failure depends on so many factors. Self discipline is probably the strongest trait an O/O needs to have.

If anyone thinks they have what it takes,. then jump right in. You'll find out real quick exactly how much an O/O makes.

Not enough.... is the correct answer!

My truck wouldn't support a wife and 2 kids by itself....if you have lots of personal dept and a pack of kids to feed I'd think long and hard about doing it.

You will be up against all of people who think a dollar a mile is good money. There are too many trucks on the spot market and the rates show it. You will make more money as a company driver than as an oo in this market.
