I take the shippers out to lunch and get my info. That way I know I'm getting the correct facts.....

Exactly! I wonder if there are places that rates are discussed. Facebook? The only point of discussing money on lanes (for example out of Florida), is to simply know what to expect and what to demand! That's to the benefit of all of us! This way you won't let TQLs, Coyotes, CHRs and the likes rip you off. Or at least you know whether they do or not!

I know there are some loadboard features and reports and podcasts "Rates and Lanes" but to no or little benefit as they are based on some unrepresentative data. If say, two o/o says I hauled Pepsi out of Orlando to Columbus, OH for $1450, and another three say we did it for 1300 but to Kansas City, Ks, then on might have an idea of what to demand if going with 45K lbs load to ...say Madison, WI.

Another "fake news report" many at LS get. 75,76,77,78%, but what do I know, someone one the internet said 65% so it must be right. Everyone seems to forget about trailers or think that they are free.
I get 77% plus fsc whitch works out to about 80% or more, agent gets 7% or more LS keeps about13%.
Agents can take as much off a load they want or can and still move the load.
Broker carrier will never know what shipper paid, I can see what the customer paid for my load.
But LS agents have broker trucks lined up to take cheap freight so they take advantage of them.
Most of the time the broker board has 30 to 50% less loads than the bco board.

    Exactly Old Man!

Here is a copy of the contract dated 2015, they are working on some changes, as of last week ... IRP for instance is going up $50 ...

Like I said 7-10% if not borrowing LS trl ... then of course there are other things which can be paid at 100% ... like FSC like you mentioned, but also toll, loading/unloading ... or even tarping ... which all bump the total to truck percent up ...

Landstar also takes care of the IFTA stuff for its oo's ...

You are way off. The internal board for BCO's has 15 to 1 more loads than the public board has.

He needs to look in the mirror and cry and complain. If he is hauling freight that cheap, he has a much bigger issue than what percentage he gets.
