Your right but you still cant drive legally for 300. You have to get your IFTA and the rest of the federal crap including the audit paperwork. And i was quoting the cost thru OOIDA.

Do you mind sharing who that's with? And for what values and level of cover.

million and 175k, all through my insurance agent. one was progressive but they dont do start ups anymore. their quote was 7600. i had not heard of the others so i cant give the name accurately. im not ready to insure yet so i just got the qoutes to put in my business plan. I use 10k in my plan. I didnt even save them because he criteria was for a 2000 379 with a 53' dry van 2005. Like i said i dont have either of these yet i was just crunchin numbers with my agent. But the avg was 8k. Pisses me off i can remember for you. I hope to have my plan finished soon and i will have to do it again with more "real'" criteria. I will let you know

Cheapest I was quoted for first year was $9500 through TBS.

I understand what the OP is asking though, because it's a chicken or egg thing. But yes it does seem that you need the truck. I've never read that OOIDA link, but I'm going to.

OOIDA suggest getting the process started first, then buy your truck in the 3 rd week to save on expense of truck since you can't drive it for business until the authority goes thru. its a 4 week process. They have packages that can get yu what you need. $950 for the whole thing includes ifta and 48 authority think. Buying in the 3rd week save insurance and an extra truck ppayment that would have be made when the truck cant make money yet.
