You raise an interesting point, does the insurance broker allow you to transfer insurance between trucks easily, say from your primary rig to your back-up?

    Bad Monkey Thanks this.

I know my agent did not complain one bit when I switched between the new one back to the old one, and back to the new one again.

    Nice truck!

I'm looking for a reason to move to the O/O side, but my company keeps paying me just enough that it doesn't make sense yet.

I was talking with the mechanics in my company's shop last week, and they were telling me a horror story from one of the O/Os that had signed on with the company. He had purchased a 2012 and drove it for 2 months until the turbo failed. That turbo failure trashed the entire emissions system from the turbo to the stack. $35K to replace.

You've got to have some deep pockets to operate a truck with a DPF and / or SCR, it seems.

It seems there are plenty of dealers that take advantage of the situation. 35k would pay for a new long block.

That was quoting parts at cost to the company's shop, and labor at $70/hour. I'm not sure he's actually pulled the trigger on it yet.

For $35k, I'd be hitting the delete button, and taking my chances, provided running to California wasn't part of his business model...

WOW. 2 days and it hasn't blown up again. I guess I have lowered my expectations. LOL.

I bet a bug chunk of it is core charges. When a turbo let's loose it shoots fan and bearing pieces, and oil. On a pre emmisions truck this results in pin holes down the exhaust pipe. On an emissions truck i can see it ruining the dpf bad enough they won't accept it as a core.
