If you can lease on and run under there authority and still make money than do it.. If you have to get your own authority you will make more money but always remember, "More money, More problems".. like i said i dont know about Florida but in Jersey just to lease on to the company im recently with i had to pay my own workmans comp and that was almost $8,000.. 40% up front the rest due 6 weeks later... always ask questions and cover all angles..

Work Comp is a bit#%. Here in California the rates aren't less than 45% of the employee's salary. You need to pay cash and check.

    I NEVER heard of that
I thought workers comp is based of you me earning each week.

Are you on a salary as a O/O?
How will they know he amount ahead of time?
Will they reimburse you if you overpaid?

IL had one of the highest work comp rates in the country and it's no where near 45%.

OccAcc is different than work comp. I was paying $30/wk in OccAcc as an OO in IL, thought that was pretty darn good...

@Anthony Ruther My OCAC is $40/week, so $30 is a really good price.

@Gladiator_973 I've NEVER heard of having to pay any amount upfront. In Chicago, no one requires anything upfront, they wouldn't have any O/O signing on.

I have a question. If you are planning to be a Owner Op. What fees do I have to pay for hauling intermodals in Florida? Should I get my own authority? If so how much is that? Or should I go through a company?
Trying to see how much money I need for fees. Thanks
