We never see that kinda set up in the NE....

    The locals run a closed 7 or 8 axle 4 axle tractor/ 4 axle trailer .

Don't know you, don't do Heavy Haul, never will. But, I just had to say that that is the single greatest explanation of torque versus horsepower and that I've heard yet. I have had more arguments with people about this topic than any other. I have won more money betting moron, usually driving Mustangs, that it is impossible to measure horsepower you can only measure torque and horse power is calculated from that. And that their engine produces exactly the same amount of torque and horsepower, no matter what that figure is at 5250 RPM. LOL
Thank you for taking the time to post that especially the part about three inches of water!

365 is about the biggest locally... there's one 375 but not sure if they break it down.

Knowing those guys I bet they don't ...

You see a lot of closed 4's in sc too. There are a fair number of 3+1 too.

Ron does bring up a good point, check your regulations in the states you'll be running in. You might need the 425 to get the weight, just because I can in Ohio doesn't mean you can other places I tend to forget that sense this is the only place I run anymore.

    Oxbow Thanks this.

I'm not familiar enough with your axle laws to know what you can haul.

I'm not sure what you mean when you say the 425's "scoot" easier on wet roads...

Something I've been curious about... On roads that have seen heavy truck traffic, and the lane has two worn down... deep worn grooves. With my 22.5 LP's, on my really short wheelbase truck its a fight to keep the darned thing going straight. If the groves are deep enough, its almost a white knuckle affair by the time you through it. My longer wheelbase truck, again with 22.5 LP's, is far better... never get white knuckles!

When your running in grooved roads like that, do 385's and 425's make it better? Or worse? I could see it going both ways. My skinny tires, are always trying to climb out of the groove. Do the wide tires try to climb out faster? Or do the match the angle better, and you don't notice it as much? I don't have anything with wide tires at the moment, and when I did, I never had it on roads like that.
