Hello Drivers, I applied for the Menomonie DC and passed the interview. I'm now just waiting for them to call me and schedule the pre-trip and road test.
I hear they are hiring 10 drivers. Can you tell me what to expect as a new hire as far as programs, slip seating etc?
I know every DC is different as far as number of employees, upcoming retirements etc. and I'm just trying to get a feel for what I'm getting into.
Thanks!

You can get that info from your company, you should already have all that info as far as you are in the process of hiring. Get all that info BEFORE you sign on. Only you can ask them the questions.

Friday or Saturday start. Slip seat 2-3 times a week. Takes about a year to a year and a half to get on a program. Lots of Chicago. Overall a very good job though. You can make good $$ here.HighwayRider Thanks this.

Thanks for the info. What other states does Menomonie cover?
-
I'll jump in and say it's really where the ROC needs you. I'm out of Iowa and have hit Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Indiana and Ohio. Many have gotten father out than that.HighwayRider Thanks this.

And just a friendly heads up, I don't know about other DC's, but in Menomonie we aren't registered for 80,000 lbs in some states. Say I go to southern Illinois and they want me to pick up a heavy backhaul in KY. Can't do it. Only registered for 65,000 in KY. Some guys have found this out the hard way.HighwayRider Thanks this.

jfred74, how many drivers and trucks does Menomonie have?
-
185 drivers and around 130 tractors. Not sure on the tractor count.
-
Wow. A lot more drivers there than I thought.
What do you think I can expect to earn my first year out of Menomonie? -
Depends on how hard you want to work. I made around 90k my first year. Took my time until I learned the system and had an efficient routine down. Don't get to wrapped up in the money when you start. It will come. The important thing is to work safely and do the job right.
HighwayRider Thanks this.
