Not surprised to hear that FCC is a great company, they just got top 20 best fleets to drive for 2 years in a row. It's nice to see that you found a good place to drive and I hope you can stay happy there.

Actually, they have gotten in the top 20 fleets category since the beginning of when the "Best Fleets" thing got started in 2009. Even won the top pick for a couple of years in both Company Driver and O/O categories.

To me, happy is staying very profitable and dealing with good people, both the carrier and the customers, and actually having a life outside of trucking on a weekly basis. I get that here. Only one customer was a total moron.

On that one, I went in to them and checked in. Had to blindside to the dock off a narrow alley. Now that wouldn't be an issue, but they had a huge parking lot that was only partially used that a truck could pull thru and line up to the dock and back straight in. But they wouldn't allow trucks thru that lot. After backing in, another guy came out and wanted the p/u number that I had already given the dock guy. I told him I had given it already, but he stated in a nasty tone "you didn't give it to me!". I asked then why we couldn't use that parking lot to set up for dock. At that point he proclaimed "Hey, you chose that stinking job, so deal with it". At that point, told them to keep their product. I pulled away, shut the trailer doors, and told FCC the issue and said I was going home and would call them Monday. Never had a single problem from FCC over it. No phone calls, no penalizing me on loads, nothing. In fact, a few months later they tossed a "Driver of the Month" thing at me.

From the sound of things @Cowpie1, I may have to check in to them and check on their requirements for getting hired. The worst they can do is tell me I don't have enough experience. It sounds like they are a good company to work for.

I am leased on. Not totally up to speed on how the company driver pay and compensation is. I do know, that there is no favorites. Everything is done the same with O/O and company drivers. Same freight, same customers.

On the O/O side of things, the rate is on a per mile, variable with length of haul. For each of the last 3 months, my difference between miles they paid for and all miles on the tractor has been about 4%. But that is going home every weekend. My deadhead (paid) has been just over 5% average. For O/O, the only required fee is $10 a week for the qualcomm. No deposit, no installation fee. Insurance and other stuff, you can either get your own or get it thru them. I choose their stuff. Base plates, they are mine, but they reimburse me for the base plates every year. Free permits, Prepass if you want it ($18.05 a month) and all tolls paid. The prepass is used for tolls, so it makes it advantageous to have. Other tolls that have to be paid for where Prepass unit doesn't work, they will reimburse. Good discounts on fuel purchases. And no stupid trailer fees and other nonsense. No fees on fuel card at many fuel locations. At the ones that do get hit with a fee, it is only about 55-65 cents a transaction.

Again would have to defer to them on that. I do know that with their trailer and your tractor, you have to be able to handle up to 46,000 in cargo. One doesn't get that much often, but it can happen. Mine is pretty light. My weight with tractor full of fuel and a van trailer on is 32,500. So the 46K cargo thing is easy. No wheel base restriction that I am aware of. We have a wide variety of trucks here. Classic KW's and Petes on to the newer Cascadia's, Volvo's, etc. There might be an age restriction, but not sure what it might be, and not sure if it would be waived based on inspection of the truck by the shop, which any truck will have to go thru. No age restriction on trucks that are already signed on.
