Screen brightness is a hardware issue. You can change the brightness of your screen at night in your display control panel.
Or, if you have a laptop that has a Function Key on it you might have screen brightness controls on the keyboard.
Mine does. At night I just use the FN Key plus the down arrow to lower the screen brightness till it is dim enough to see, but not bright enough to distract.
However, most of the time I keep my laptop closed anyways unless I actually need to see the directions at the time. -
i am gonna try those ideas now.thanks
-
tried those ideas, none of the function keys work when copilot is active an you cannot access control panel while copilot is running,i would guess that is a safety feature.

Don't adjust it while it is running, adjust it with nothing running and then test copilot to see if it is okay.
Anyways tell me the exact laptop you have.. I need Manufacture and model number and I will look it up for you.. I will tell you how to dim your screen...
Another option is go into the power settings and switch it into power saving mode.. It will run as if it was using the battery and be a little dimmer...
Anyways post your laptop make and model and we can go from there... -
Actually you should be able to unless you have some kind of software issue that prevents you from using your computer while Co-Pilot is running.
It really depends on what version of Window you are using, but I do know (unless you are using a very old version of Co-Pilot that you can use the minimize button on the navigation screen to get to the desktop while it is running. I do it all the time. -

Doesn't co-pilot have any color schemes? I have DeLorme, and I can use the dark color scheme at night.

Mine changes automatically to a darker screen around 2000 hrs, but it is still to bright.
