OK Everyone...Can't thank you all enough. It was the EGR cooler and it's being replaced right now. Got the computer hooked up yesterday, finally, and had over 100 code trips for the cooling system. Once again, thanks for all the advice and directions. It helps small companies like us out immensely.
68 GoatGrey Dodge Thanks this. -
Make sure you change the oil and the crankcase filter too, they will now have coolant contamination. You should also have the EGR valve removed and cleaned out. It will be full of junk.
68Goat, Grey Dodge and The Challenger Thank this. -
Yes, Heavy, wil do. There was some evidence of coolant in the oil as well.
Heavyd Thanks this. -
Hey Heavy D,
I have a question for you when changing the coolant/water filter just underneath the water pump on my 2009 international prostar 435 IS Cummins Engine do I have to be concerned with any coolant coming out? Here's my Vin#2HSCUAPR89C088630.
Thanks -
IIRC there should be a little shutoff valve on or just above the filter head. I believe its installed into the casting itself.
@Heavyd would know for sure. -
Yep, just a little shut off tap right above the filter. Some have a lever, others take a 3/4" socket to turn.
no love for a trucker and SAR Thank this. -
Thanks Heavy D you the man
