Knight is my first company and first experience in the trucking industy, so I don't know what its like elsewhere.
So my truck was scheduled for an "A" service due to mileage. I reached the threshold right before hometime. I also live near my terminal, so I just leave the truck at my home terminal when I go home.
I tried to tell the shop and dispatcher to service it while I was at home, but they wouldn't do it. They said I had to wait in the service line. I didnt have the time to wait in their stupid line before going home, so I went home, and the next week, when I came back to the terminal, I had wait in this ridiculous line.
I waited for 3 hours in the service line. When I got to the front of the line they told me to just drop the trailer and park the bobtail by the shop and they would get around to doing the A service when they had a chance.
Why couldn't they do the #### A service when I was at home?? Absolutely nothing of any productive value was accomplished by me sitting in that service line for 3 hours.
I work 70+ hours a week, too #### much. So I am very sensitive when my time is wantonly flushed down the toilet like this.
Are the shop policies this ridiculous elsewhere?

Swift is the same. Have to wait in prequall line to let shop what needs to be done. If i was you, i would have waited then tell shop you are going home and when i be back. Might have save some time.

I write a report and then buy some cookies at the grocery store and send those into the shop. Usually they fix what ever is wrong with the truck. Got a new bumper out of it so I can't complain. Although our shop can be a tad slow sometimes and the service a bit iffy. Last time I had my truck fixed they sent it to the dealer and I drove a spare for a month and a half.

When I was with Schneider, I just talk to the mechanic and drop it in the front and go home....
Then when I come back, go searching for my truckMike2633 Thanks this. -
The rest of the industry is nothing like Knight. Don't be discouraged, it's all uphill after Knightbrian991219, drvrtech77, Western flyer and 1 other person Thank this.

Uphill?? So its worse after Knight?
That can't be right. -
I'd be looking for a job or knight would be having warranty issues from lack of service .
No way I'd donate my time when I'm home .
I keep the sob clean and write it up when it needs work , the rest is up to the owner . -
If it was worse then I would have said it was all downhill from Knight. Knights a trucking school, not an employer.drvrtech77 Thanks this.

Still hauling them stumps? Or driving a cab now? Always salty on knight even though it's been over a decade since they took your keys.
