Question for you guys with Verizon. how does the data service hold up in rural America? And what about streaming video such as netflix?also does Verizon allow you to talk on the phone and use data at the same time?

Well I can tell you this... having traveled in and out of Canada last week I never dropped service or calls as I previously did with T-Mobile... and just the other day going from Detroit to Buffalo the long way thru Ohio and Pennsylvania I would constantly lose service with T-Mobile... never once along 75/80/90 with Verizon... not even in that 5 mile stretch at pa line where a lot I've talked to lost signal typically...
spyder7723 Thanks this. -
Verizon has the largest coverage area of any wireless service. If they dont have service in an area,.. chances are no one else does either.
Typically when you have a signal with Verizon,.. even in rural areas,.. its a 4G LTE signal. They are the best and I'll stand behind that.

FWIW. Verizon is and has been the preferred carrier of storm chasers who rely on reliable, quality data in remote areas. I'm with Verizon and when I'm connected via hotspot through my phone, my browse capability stops while I'm on a phone callHurst Thanks this.

Newer phones that support HD Voice will allow you to talk and surf at the same time

Ill keep my AT&T service, over the last several years of having it i can only think of one or two places that I did not have service. Now adays carriers contract one and others towers. They are all pretty close to the same now. The years I had Verizon and the years I have had AT&T there has virtually been no diff.
Pick your poison and drink it up, it comes in alot of different colors.
As for data while on a call, AT&T has had that for years now. I could of swore Verizon has had it for years also, tho I think there is a check box in settings on their phones you have to switch to use it. -
Not to hijack a thread but I just read where AT&T is now bringing back unlimited for everyone ...

Rural coverage is pretty good especially if your near an interstate. A few dead spots in WY and OK.
A few years ago it was dependant on the phone having the capability for data during a phone call. IIRC anytime there was 4g you could do both.
... Now it's an "Advanced Calling" calling feature they can charge you for.spyder7723 Thanks this. -
I just talked to Verizon.I'm seriously considering straight talk.Verizon has hidden fees you won't see till you get your bill.Straight talk don't have a contract and its 45 a month for unlimited talk text and data.My Verizon doesn't expire till DEC and cost 76.00 if I terminate it now but I may do that.
