Been a long time since I was called a kid..........everything in trucking has
some risk. Drive a truck that someone else repaired and have an accident,
the blame will still fall on you, the driver. Didn't do your pretrip correctly.....

What about when I know the mechanic did not fix the problem correctly????
Sit at home till he does fix it properly????? Than lose my job because the
company had to send some body else to cover my route.

I have no problem letting the mechanic do the job he is being paid to do.
I also have no problem doing the repair myself if that keeps me rolling, and
keeps me safe. In the end it is about doing everything I can to be as safe as
    possible.

Would you operate an unsafe vehicle because the mechanic signed
of on it and supposedly you have no liability for the repair????

If a lawyer wants a piece of you and you didn't work on the truck he will just say as a professional driver you should have sensed the problem and pulled the truck over before the accident occurred so the driver is the one responsible.
So in the end it may help to not have worked on the truck but you still could be on the hook for it.
