Most "techs" have the mentality that if you want to talk further, you need a bigger radio or a bigger box to compensate for their lack of knowledge or skill.
Very relevant indeed. -
Most so called techs mentality is turn it up.... which will eventually burn it up.... weather that might be a radio or a linearrabbiporkchop Thanks this.
-
A prime example is Smiley in Corning California that needs a 32 transistor amplifier to talk 18 miles from his pickup truck.
-
And he hasn't blown his pickup truck up yet !!! Man he is good
-
The distance was about 5 miles. There were obstructions around, especially at receiving station. Wish I had another Wilson 1000--my next purchase. I could've knocked a little bit more distance with this test, but for the sake of the recording, it would've been hard to understand.

They're good am radios. Ssb leaves a lil to be desired on the 949 59 79..they're drifters.
I think people just get confused. They want a "loud galaxy", buy a 3 digit, and have someone set it up with echo, extra channels and power cranked, when they could've bought a 2 digit for the same, or maybe even less money, and all that stuff is there. I dont believe either is better, ya just have to know what ya want, and what your lookin at.wolverine11, bored silly and rabbiporkchop Thank this. -
Comin from the guy who has a ts dx1000 and dx1600 hahaha...
