I know a guy that "un-bridged" his, and he loves it. Solid engine with tons of power.

That being said the truck you are looking at, run far away.......or offer $1000 and use it to trade up to better truck. LoL

I run an un-bridged motor myself and love it. The problem is I was ignorant just like OP when I bought it all those years ago. Doing things over and knowing what I do now I would never by a bridge motor again. Don't get me wrong. It is reliable and good now but the extra $4,000 to unbridged is just too much when there are cheaper just as good motor options out there.

I'd say you have received good advice from your posters. Also consider how you will use the truck, I worked the Oil Fields, and as you know, those roads can be very hard on your equipment. Your friends truck has Auto hauling Highway miles, not Oil Field miles, and as you know, there is a difference. In my experience, I've found Freightliner to be an excellent truck for the demands of the Oil Fields and Highway use. Take that money and look for a good '07.
