Again the check isn't an issue, even a funds transfer is possible.
the certified check only thing is meaningless in many cases, a lot of banks will not confirm one over the phone because of forgeries, they can be forged just as any other check can be.
what is better is to ask the people who you are financing it with what is recommended, if they say check, then it is check. If they say cashier's check, the use that.
However, don't hand someone a check and expect them to be happy with it.
What I've done when I sold trucks is take the buyer to the bank with me, have it confirmed and then cashed, with a hold on the money (a bank to bank thing I guess) and it is in my hands.
Another thing that I've used and people think I'm crazy buy a couple trucks with credit cards (at a dealer) then got home, wrote a check to the credit card company and sent it out to pay for it. This wasn't a $25k purchase but a lot more.

Would you guys bobtail ityourself to the destination it needs to be if it was more than 1000 miles or pay someone to ship it for you?
-
I wouldn't bobtail, I'd hop a plane so I could drive it home. He's what you do. Send a deposit, by a plane ticket, then once you've test drove etc, you have your bank wire the rest of the money.
-
I either have my manager or myself go and get it but more often than not, I call a place like truck movers and pay the $3 a mile to get it moved.

If you pull the dipstick on the engine and the oil is not black keep on walk-in.

FWIW....certified checks are no longer guaranteed funds like a couple have mentioned here.

Why do Western Stars seem to have a much lower resale than say Peterbilts or Kenworths?
I've been looking at some Western Stars with N14 cummins and can't help but notice how much cheaper they are than some of the other truck brands. -
Because it's just a freightliner with lipstick on.heartlessangel7 and Lepton1 Thank this.

BS, WS are good trucks but you got to be careful with buying used, a lot of them are abused.heartlessangel7 Thanks this.

Hey fellow drivers, I'm in the process of buying my first used truck also, due to my budget my options are on a freightliner or a Volvo but I haven't been able to choose between the dd15 and the isx14.9...
I've read so many good and bad ratings about both that it's become a headache.
Any opinions on how to go about on making a decision?
