New hire divers get the bottom of the barrel. The longer you work for one company the better it should get.
Don't listen to negative people that hate trucking. It will be what you make of it.

To answer your question, I HAVE been a Machinist, an Industrial Painter, a Mold & Core Maker (that also popoured iron), a Roofer, a Bridge and Box Culvert Carpenter, amongst a lot of othere things.

Then I drove over-the-road for better than a quarter century trying from time to time to get out (taking above mentioned positions).
And though my hatred for trucking was strong....my hatred for indoor's, artificial light, and factory life is even stronger.
But I found a "happy medium".
I still get to work outdoors, I still get to drive, and I get to be home daily, and I get paid for every tenth of a second I'm at work.

You won't see me in truck stops, you won't find me in a rest area, and I will not be that guy next to you in the dock.
Corn line, bean line, field, farm, or elevator is where I spend my time....and then home.
It took 27 years to find this job, and I darn sure deserve it.

OTR sucks monkey nads...and if a tornado was to wipe out my place of employment. ...guess I'd be looking for another job just like it because I'll NEVER go back "trucking".

Insurance companies will shut you down or you will pay above top $$$$$ just to get your foot in the door.

$20K/yr is what my research suggests...

which will be around $2K down & $1600/month or $400/week...

Completely doable with the right approach...and budgeting.

I know people doing it and 2 yrs later they now pay $9,000 with their own authority

Is there something I'm missing that you can add?

Keep looking, you might get lucky and find it around 14k with perfect mvr.

Be sure who you are going to work with will except them before you purchase.

Can you explain why Werner is bad? I've heard more good things about Werner than bad.
