KLLM Driving Academy (Lancaster, TX)

Ive been studying a combination of two things the Mississippi cdl manual that I downloaded and also thetruckingtruths high road online cdl program. Every practice test ive done ive passed with at least an 80% usually closer to 90%

 

I'm just surprised you didn't get a recruiter out of Jackson, considering that's where you're trying to do that schooling at. As for ACT scores, I really don't see why those apply to truck driving. Hell I didn't even need to show my diploma. Either way, if you do get all signed up and ready to go, best of luck to you. Don't overthink and be patient. It clicks differently with others. And exactly what velli said, stay to yourself. I made really good friends with two other people but, and I'm not joking, we were the only ones to get our CDL on day one. Just focus brotha and listen to what the instructors are saying. You're gonna have great days and you're gonna have #### days. Don't get too down on yourself.

 

I definitely understand. From my understanding the way the jackson training academy works is that it is accredited through the hinds cc. Something about the way the state of Mississippi works some kind of politics thing. My recruiter out in texas said he wishes he could just get me a bus ticket to lancaster and be done with it

 

Personally, I think if you buy the ticket, you might be able to get to Lancaster. Lancaster is better than Jackson imo. I hated Jackson when I did OTR. I bought a plan ticket and flew down to Dallas just to meet up with my trainer and they reimbursed me so maybe you'll have some kind of luck. Idk tho man.

 

Right now I'm not concerned about passing the permit tests. I've passed every practice test ive taken. My recruiter said you have to live in texas to go to lancaster training. My recruiter has been very helpful just not overly knowledgeable on the Mississippi training. Im thinking i may start on the 13th because I just realized that my check is on the 7th. So thatd be perfect timing. Ive got enough saved up right now for 1 and a half months but i want just a little extra as a safety net

 

I hear ya man. That 500 was my only source of income but I also lived like 15 mins away from chicagos training facility. Either way it's kinda good that they want act scores cuz it a credited course.

 

Yes it is but it's also a nuisance when the recruiter has no idea. Im really thankful for the opportunity, heck jackson isn't far from me. After my next check ill have just over two months worth of money thats not counting the money on the card from passing the physical and permit. From what other drivers and the recruiter have told me that 500 dollars is given to you during the 2nd week after passing the aforementioned tests. You don't pay for the testing, endorsements or anything unless you get hungry after lunch. So just food money and possibly a little spending money

 

Yeah that's basically all you'll need money for. Trust me it'll be a weight lifted off your shoulders once you have that cdl in your hand and that trainers number! Lmao
