What is the hairiest road you've been on?

Those old trestles are still being used for bicycle trails. The old Cascade Hwy is still used for back-road outings. They call those "The Good Old Days"? Most of today's OTRs have no idea what gravel road driving is.

Well I've been on quite a few mountain passes and such but one road
I'll never forget is I come out of Yellowknife NWT headin' for Whitehorse Yukon, thought I'd take the shortcut on the Ft Liard " highway " instead of going all the way back down to Peace River. Well sir, it's all gravel, mud, and Buffalo for 700 miles. There's no cell service, no towns, nothing. Saw 1 pickup in 24 hours, and if I let my mind get the better of me I'd start to think about what if a guy broke down out here, needless to say been there done that, wouldn't do it again.

Yeah, the best way to Salty from Amarillo is ABQ---> Four Corners ---> Price ---> SLC. 666 here we come! (Well, back in the day, anyways.)

Any GPS that tried to send you through the heart of the Rockies needs to go out the window!

Still reading all these and catching up here but man anyone mention Route 30 through PA? Crazy!

Or ever feel like saving some money and avoiding the tiny little WV toll? Don't!

    peterd and Macneil Thank this.

Not a forgiving road, that's for sure. Just about caught a moose there one night last week.

The 129 can be a fun road to drive.

You have to love those roads when pulling 80,000 and have no runaways if things go from white knuckle to eye closing and praying.
