How do you guys lift a head

Yes I used a engine hoist a few times. For me it was a challenge but it did the job. I was working on a Detroit series 60. I was working on a gravel lot so I put plywood down so it would roll easy. I also removed the front tire and then lowered truck back down. It all from experience from fighting with it the first time.
I lifted mine from the corners holes with bolts & chain. You can do it but do have a helping hand it helps especially putting it back on. I did it by myself be patient and keep everything organized. Be patient

 

I've always used either a shop crane or my service truck crane. I have a bunch of CAT bolt on lifting eyes I use.

 

We used a 2 ton on a isx. I wouldn't try it with one of those foldable deals. Even with the tire off you have to extend it out pretty far. Not sure of the weight on a isx,but we on the verge of tipping.

 

Yes indeed you are right I had to balance the weight on the series 60

 

No way to ballast it?

 

When the old one came off I was on the back while jacking it up. The guy helping pushed it clear till we could let it down some. We called for back up reinstalling.

 

A little pricy, but an investment in tools is never wasted money.
