Plz let us know what Carolina Cargo says.I do sincerely wish you the best of luck. That school lied to you because only thing on there mind is money.I do believe that you changed your life for the better but trucking companies could care less, they have policies and they won't bend the rules for anyone.Like others have said you may have to wait for a few yrs because your felony is fairly recent.I would suggest finding a job like working on the dock loading trks or a warehouse and after so long working for a. certain company they may give you the opportunity to drive for them.

Yes but you will most likely not be allowed to travel outside the U.S. My dad has dui from 2003 and he wanted to go to canada last year for a fishing trip and they said no so he had to lawyer up and pay almost 4 grand to get in. And he had a misdemeanor dui almost 15 years ago. Glad to here you're changing but some people just don't believe in it unfortunately

Don't worry about Canada. Just make sure that the Dispatcher knows you are not dispatchable to the border. What you can do is take a load into say the Detrioter Truckstop wait for a repower from a team or single who does have the credentials to finish the delivery inside Canada.

For me in my time the 65 cent loonie vs the dollar meant that it's a 35% pay boost going into Canada when considered in food expense while there among other benefits such as being able to buy certain foods banned inside the USA such as Orange Pekoe Tea instead of just plain black Tetley tea. But in the later years the advantage of exchange evened out.

Also further, Canada introduces a potential issue of adults at age 14. You needed to be very careful with them. They would be adults up there but if you brought them back to the States it's statuary rape possibly. I simply do not know or remember enough about Canadian law to know if that is true or not. One of our Movies "Children of a Lesser God" was specifically filmed in Canada during the 80's specifically to bypass American Laws on under 18 sex in one of the scenes.

I've got serious felonies, 7 of them, but I went to court in 1997. Released 2011 and 2 of those companies were willing to hire me and one did. Anywhere I apply it comes back clean on the background. So there is definitely future hope for you if not already.

Keep knocking on doors and putting in those applications. Its imperative that you put that fresh CDL to work real soon. You don't want it to sit idle to long after getting it or that will become another obstacle in itself to overcome.

Exactly why I tell those considering the industry, find a company first and only then decide about CDL school. It makes no sense borrowing money for a trade in which you may not get hired. It seems many or most CDL students go to CDL school thinking they will use the time to shop around the trucking companies. You won't have time. You'll barely have time to listen to the few companies that come to your school and lie to you in class. Find a company you want to work for, you qualify for, and then decide how to get the license.

Some of these replies make me shake my head. Most carriers have these things called traffic lanes. Depending on the customer a company might put a driver in one of these lanes or they might not. Another aspect is hazmat. Can you get that or a TWIC card?Another thing about this issue is having someone on the inside helping you. Never assume anything. There is a local company that just lost a MAJOR account because of continued sending drivers to load that can't legally haul the load. My view is simple. If you can't get hazmat or a TWIC card ever your of no real use to a carrier.
