Hello drivers.. Im finally getting ready to try being owner operator after 12 year company driver for various carriers. Today i was at a lot and saw a nice 2012 kentworth T700..10 spd 340k miles.they want 40k for it. Its Clean, drive nice. Im curious to know if this is a good buy..what are the pros and cons for this model truck? What type should i get? Dont have much to put down but i did get approved for a 2012 pete 587 9 speed trans.240k miles....but i decided to go cheaper.. Please help. Thanks

Yes sir, buying the truck is the cheap part. But 40k doesn't sound too bad. I have a couple '12 T660s and owe more than that on each of them with more miles so I'd love to be that shape.

Yes, 2012 Paccar motors have a very consistent problem with the DPF system. My company just gave an entire lot of them (I think it was 9 or 10 trucks) back to Peterbilt because of the issues hitting the trucks around 450K-500K kilometers.
Ask for a service history and see if there has been any DPF work done. If not, that thing is just about ready to go.TRUCKEE411 and strollinruss Thank this. -

Paccar engines on yours? If so tell me about the maintenance.. Is it easy to get parts? Is it expensive too maintain compared to other engines? Etc
