-
It depends on what state you are in... I know Georgia any commercial vehicle accept limo's to have tint.. So, it all depends on what state...
-
My hubby got a ticket in a company truck for having tinted windows I don't remember what state it was in

Here's the law from FMCSA..
§393.60 Glazing in specified openings.
(d) Coloring or tinting of windshields and windows. Coloring or tinting of windshields and the windows to the immediate right and left of the driver is allowed, provided the parallel luminous transmittance through the colored or tinted glazing is not less than 70 percent of the light at normal incidence in those portions of the windshield or windows which are marked as having a parallel luminous transmittance of not less than 70 percent. The transmittance restriction does not apply to other windows on the commercial motor vehicle.

Yes, but if in your state the allowable shade may be less so you would have to obey that...
In NYC no more than a 35% darker shade, but with the FMCSA im ok with 30%, thats how the tint meters read...So if I had 30% tint on my truck side windows and get stopped for an inspection by NYPD HiWay Patrol, they would give me a ticket for the windows being darker than 35% as per the tint meter because I have a NY regi...
You guys from out of state, get stopped by NYPD and have 30% as per FMCSA will not get a ticket... -
30% absorbence is less tinting than 35%. Maybe you meant NY is 25%?
-
Well i rather not get it...it's always gone be atleast one ######## cop out there...
-
Might have been Iowa. They love that ticket. -
Im sure I mixed that up...The tint meters tell you how much light passes through...In NYC legal is 35%, so when the cop puts the meter on your window and it says 35 its ok...But if it reads 30, then it's illegal...
The FMCSA definition seems different then what the tint meters read???
