so iv been noticing several e-log are working off a tablet device. how are you guys mounting these things in the truck i cant imagine you just throw them ontop of the dash board and let them slide around. i imagine they probably need to be plugged into a charger to keep the battery from going dead and also need the data link connector plugged in. i am having trouble picturing how this would be setup.

anyone have pictures of your tablet based e-log?

also i have never owned a tablet or even priced one yet, how much cost are you looking at for a tablet?

We have tablets in our trucks, they suck! Things have so many bugs it's ridiculous. Typical Samsung product, overpriced trash.

My company gives you the option of paper or elogs, somewhere in this piece of junk is where they are. Apparently about 75% of our drivers are on them, myself not included.

Top left corner is my rand McNally tablet/gps. Has a suction cup mounting that has probably only fallen twice in better than a year. Suction cup to window magnet holds tablet to base which it also charges through. Also check out ram mounts, pretty heavy duty stuff

We have Samsung Tablets in 15 tractors for about 5 years. We use RAM mounts. About $65 for all the pieces. You can customize it however you need. They are rock solid, made in the USA

Yup, Ram products here also, mounted to the big space on the right "dashboard" in the Cascadias, spring loaded so you can remove it quickly.

Why would you ever print your log?
With omnitracs they have a website where you can run all kids of reports. Print logs, edit logs, fault codes fuel tax driving performance, etc.

There are really only two reasons to print off logs, DOT officer asking for them or so a driver can make copies for himself in order to back up days out info, in either case we email them to either the office or his dept. and the driver can email them each week to his home PC.

You don't have to plug a printer in these days. It can be done wireless. I had an app on my phone I could use to wireless connect to a printer
