Ya the ata wanted to be able to run the loads they couldn't cause the guys running them were violating hos. But as i said, if drivers were not violating hos to begin with then that arguement wouldn't have worked. That's the level playing field ata was talking about. Everyone running with in the hos rules. It certainly isn't the 20 bucks a month on costs.

 

And the ONLY reason the ELD mandate won't be stopped is because of the, "Big Government IFTA/ IRP Cheese".
Meaning, the States, especially the expensive IFTA states, NY, PA ,VA etc, want to make sure, WE, record every blessed mile we drive in their states and that, THEY, get paid accordingly.

 

Most elds don't track mileage for ifta. Just miles driven. The eld doesn't know where the stateline is.

 

I think the hos should be scrapped all together. You're are either negligent in how you run or you're not. Since that won't happen though I'd compromise with a 16hr day any combination of line 3&4 with 8hrs off before another 16.

And before anybody says I want to work more for less, that is not close to accurate. I just want to get my work done and go home. I'll make the same either way. I just prefer to be home enjoying my life instead of sitting in a truck stop watching paint dry waiting for some clock to go off telling me it's now ok to proceed.

Omnitracs does. I just plug in values from the receipt into my phone when I fuel and when the quarter is finished I print out my report, sign it, and send it in. In the event that the relay or phone has issues, I can manually enter them from a computer.

It seems strange to have an ELD that doesn't know where the state line is, considering it has to be equipped with GPS to log your locations when you change duty status.

 

Yep, same here, we have Omnitrax, mileage in each state, no issue.

You are incorrect. ELDs have GPS. The driver may not see the stateline data but the office will or can, depending on level of service being paid for.

The IFTA reporting is the only upside to having these #### things.
