If 3500 is reliable what would be its best match when picking out a trailer ?

Lots of good brands. Big Tex, pj, Stryker, and so on I wouldn't buy new. Find a user 3/4 wedge with everything already on it. Lots of guys that got into the business and then back out selling them all over the country. Check all the web listings and happy hunting.

Best deals are gonna be Facebook sites or Craigslist. Tons of trucker and trailer sites but usually asking a premium. Finding a guy who just wants out and quick will be your best score

Stay away from Big Tex. I never thought there was much of a difference in the quality of the big name trailers but there is a lot of differences.
    Some problems include:
    1. Day one. A tire with 3 holes in it. Pin holes in the sidewall above the bulge of the sidewall. The tire was replaced under warranty
    2. The valve stems that were supplied with the trailer are rated up to 80 psi. The trailer came with 14 ply tires requiring 110 psi.
3.The lamps for the plate are not LED even though all the lights were to be LEDs.
    4. The step on the drivers side was welded so far under the deck it was not useful to step up onto the trailer.
    5. The deck boards do not have the proper number of screws. Two screws in the end of each board and only one screw on the other cross members. The welder who attached my winch was laughing at the amount of flex in the trailer.
    6. The trailer is rusting at the welds.
    7. The chain box is an odd shape and it is very difficult to fit ratchet type of binders into it.
    8. Three of the four steel wheels are bent in less then 5 months of use.
    9. The wiring for the lights hangs down and has already been caught by a highway gator.

I had a Moritz trailer that I pulled for 400,000 plus miles and had fewer problems. Much more stable and stronger.

    CMC1 Thanks this.

You'll be blowing through transmissions and rear ends.

The 4500 is always the better choice.

IMO if you are wanting to start with autos i would get a flat deck trailer. the center of gravity on a wedge is very high in the air. a lot of accidents with wedge trailers. check out a appalachian top deck. you put the first car over the gooseneck then the other 2 are on the flat. makes the center of grav much better. I have seen some good lookin used trailers on FB. take 3 makes a ultra light 48 that you can put 3 cars on that is only 5200lbs. u can put 3 cars on it and still be under 26k. but they are hard to find used that are in good shape. Kaufman makes a good trailer. infinity is another. I have a take 3 53ft wedge. it is nice 102" wide perforated deck so i can use the over the tire straps and have plenty of room to move around with a big vehicle on there. i might sell it to get a better one. One thing i will tell you is always mind you load with a wedge. dont get lazy if you move a car from the bottom. move the other 2 down. try not to ever put a big or heavy auto on the top. A 3500 imo is all you will need to haul 3 cars. plenty of power and you will never bottom one out with a 3 car. not even close.
