To be blunt that ####e has to stop now. What do we need to do Petition Trump to lose his temper and yell at the precious companies to stop diddling with the human labor forces from now on???
Are big companies really that bad?

Sorry, hand. It's not Swift, it's you.
You went to Swift to skateboard. Different breed of driver. You walked on the job looking for tough times. You could go to ANY entry level flatbed company and do just fine. You have a different mindset from someone looking to go to Swift because of the sunshine injection they received from the recruiter.
Most people go to Swift, because they're looking for the path of least resistance. A prehire letter. A really good sunshine injection in Uranus. They didn't want to do any work and really didn't have to. So they wind up at Swift. That's not why you went there. And so, your experience will be completely different.
It's funny...you hear bad things about Swift every single day. But not from their flatbed division.
Keep up the good work. -
That's some real good advice and words of wisdom.

I ABSOLUTELY agree with you. Steel toed boots or shoes are a very good idea to wear whenever your performing any work outside the truck. I can't tell you how many times things have fallen and hit my toes. I pull mostly van and some refer trailers that are preloaded. You have no idea how they were loaded and if the load was secured before the trailer was sealed. We have had a couple guys hit by refrigerators when they opened the door. Never take anything for granted and stay out of the smash zone as I call it

I would disagree with the pay part, looking at starting pay listed for mega and large companies vs small I see most mega/large companies pay higher than smaller ones for experienced drivers, not students obviously. Not all but a lot. I'm sure specialized companies (oversized etc) pay higher but new drivers can't get those jobs. I'm at a mega company and on a regional/dedicated fleet and it pays extremely well. I agree with the rest of your post. It's all whatever someone can tolerate.

I would suggest that ALL companies care about the bottom line, that's why they are still in business. I would also say that the company I work for has lost a couple contracts because other small/medium sized companies under bid them for the freight. Normally we get the contracts back within a year because the cheaper bid companies fail to provide the equipment and service required.

Same here. A lot of things have changed over the years. Yes they still have problems as do most companies. I will say if you come to work here or anywhere else with a bad attitude you probably won't make it. I wouldn't have stayed all these years if the pay sucked and I was treated badly. The nice thing about large companies is your never driving old trucks and the majority of trailers are new.
