I'm very interested in becoming a owner op in the future with the tanker division. Is there good money on the tanker side. Are there any slow parts of the season? What are the best companies for owner ops?

There was good money in it, now not so much....
I would suggest figuring out what kind of tanker work you want to do . Local/ fuel, gas or roadie/chemical or food grade......
Then get a company job and learn on someone else's dime.......and go from there.
Google Trimac or superior trans....Last edited: Dec 13, 2016

Good, learn how to run a business than how this industry works.
Yes there is if you know how it works.
Yes there are slow times but ...
who knows, you have to learn what makes a good company which means ... learning the industry so you can learn what to ask and expect. -

Saw an ad today from quality carriers for owner operators. Said they paid 62% of the load and had some program where fuel prices stayed 1.25 per gallon and it got me to wondering what the money's like on the tanker side of o/o trucking.

when i pulled tanker it was oilfield and it paid good. i have a friend that has hauled fuel and anhydrous sense then according to him fuel would have been ok if it were not for the long waits at the rack. anhydrous is good other than being seasonal. know someone else who does propane sounds to not be a bad gig more loads in the winter than the summer though.
NoobiDriver Thanks this.
